If you haven’t heard about the takeover of Wink Bingo yet then keep reading and I will tell you all the details. Wink Bingo have been acquired by 888 Holdings in a deal that is estimated to be worth up to£60 million. According to reports it seems that 888 wants to strengthen their position in the UK market and purchasing a popular UK online bingo website is one way to help them do this. In August of this year 888 tried to buy Cashcade but they were outbid by Party Gaming so their acquisition of Wink Bingo is bound to please them.

The new deal that has been secured with Wink Bingo is a very lucrative deal and 888 are to play £11 million up front and the rest of the £60 million will be tied to profits between now and March 2011. Wink Bingo as you probably know is less than two years old and it is a very popular UK online bingo website. They have more than 60,000 registered players and this is amazing considering the amount of competition there is in the UK online bingo market.

888 are very positive about this move even with reports that the online bingo industry is to decline during 2010. 888 have however stated that there really is plenty of room for growth and they are expecting a 25% growth during 2010. Wink Bingo is a very successful online bingo website and in the first 11 months of 2009 they earned revenues of £15 million before tax. Analysts for the online bingo industry believe that there is still room for growth once online bingo websites continue to bring in new customers.

888 has been looking more at the UK market and focusing its activities more in this area since the UK online gambling legislation that came into place two years ago. The recession has hit this industry but there are some changes on the horizon that will be very lucrative. Some of the new changes we can expect to see from 888 include the application for a licence from France in 2010 when the French government passes legislation that will allow online gambling in this country. It is expected that France will initially allow bets on sporting events and poker events and 888 plan on capitalising on this new industry too.
